Landmark New Report Key to On-Premise
Liquor suppliers now have access to comprehensive insights into the Australian on-premise market through a new report from BarScan. Over the Bar 2010 is the first report of its kind to evaluate the mechanics of the nation’s on-premise channel. Using real sales information from bar tills, the report draws insights from over 50 million drinks served over the bar each year.
Over the Bar 2010 identifies market dynamics, beverage trends as well who is driving the channel from a corporate and brand perspective. By also showing the importance of liquor categories and segments by varying bar types and trading days, the report provides suppliers with the critical knowledge needed to build on-premise strategies and venue relationships.
BarScan’s Andrew Thomson said the report has a focus on the pubs channel and individually examines each liquor category and their consumption patterns. “This gives suppliers unparalleled insights into the trading dynamics of the on-premise channel that will enable them to better service and capitalise on the channel’s needs,” he said.
“We’ve been able to hone in on the different trading patterns and dynamics that make up the channel, while also pinpointing the importance of the various bar departments,” Thomson said.
“Bistros, public, gaming, entertainment and sports bars each provide patrons with different consumption occasions. As a result, the drinks that they buy reflect this”, Thomson said.
Thomson also said that while understanding corporate and trademark shares was important, “knowing category and brand sales across the different days of the week is incredibly useful for suppliers to plan effective on premise activities’.
Over the Bar 2010 is available for purchase through BarScan. BarScan is the first service to deliver visibility of what patrons buy over the bar, the prices they pay for each product and which purchases are made on the particular days of the week.
